Jaguar didn’t used to be unreliable at all, that happened when Jaguar made the fateful merger with British Motor Corporation, which then merged with Leyland Motor Corporation a fe.   An excellent book, the schematic drawings will appeal to the technical and engineers. It is slightly repetitive in places but a fascinating read and in fact really explains the decline in Great Britain, UK, from post war really, especially 70's onwards. Any modern director of a British, UK company would do well to read this book!Reviews:

British Royal Family News says that Kate Middleton has been left absolutely devastated over the revelations that have been made in the new book, Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family. That’s because the book is apparently making both Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton look like villains while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear as victims.   British Leyland Motor Corporation – The Story From Inside by Mike Carver, Nick Seale and Anne Youngson is just such an insider story. This book tells the story of the constituent parts of British Leyland, later Rover Group, from the merger in to the end of production of the last MG Rover in

What really happened at British Leyland (BL). Was it ‘just’ the cars, or were other factors vital to the story. Who really was to blame for BL and MG Rover's death. The 'truth' about BL is deeper than its cars – were ultra- Left-wing plots to topple BL and British society real.

Did secret deals and political intrigue really exist. Was it Labour or Conservative powers who ‘killed’ BL Released on: Octo British Leyland Motors has 88 books on Goodreads with 23 ratings. But there is still one part of the empire still in British hands. Ashok Leyland, BL's Indian subsidiary, is now owned by the British-based Hinduja brothers, and. British Leyland's chairman Michael Edwardes shared that view.

He wrote in his book, Back from the Brink, that Mr Robinson had "kept Longbridge in. I took the precaution of re-reading Graham Turner's superb Leyland Papers after a near year gap before tackling this. Compared to the economist Turner's brilliantly detailed insight into how British Leyland Motor Corporation was formed in/5(2).

The only and only Brian Culcheth - his total rallying career which most of us know, was almost all in British Leyland and BMC cars, not least Triumph. An impressive, classy, weighty tome but only £25 plus a bluey for UK postage. SS Californian was a British Leyland Line steamship that is best known for its inaction during the sinking of the RMS Titanic on 15 Aprildespite being the closest ship in the area.

The United States Senate inquiry and British Wreck Commissioner's inquiry into the sinking both concluded that the Californian could have saved many or all of the lives that were lost, had a prompt response. The Speke factory built the Triumph Herald, Vitesse, and others through the s.

This book is a fantastic overview of the story from until the very end. The story of British Leyland contains a lot of politics but the author does a very good job of remaining politically neutral.

It has some pictures but a few more would be appreciated. British Leyland -They were crap and they knew they were. After a life time in the motor industry I could fill a book with cock-ups by various manufacturers and sometimes they can be put to.

Like most "car guys" with an interest in British Leyland, Chris has been a proud (if sometimes frustrated) owner of several of their products over the years, including a Mini Clubman, Riley Kestrel, Triumph Spitfire and s: But I really don’t think that British Leyland deserves its poor reputation and the Allegro certainly doesn’t.

As for the Marina, well, that’s another story. The book in question, in case you want to get hold of a copy for yourself, is “Total Lemons. One Hundred and Eleven Heroic Failures of Motoring” by Tony Davis, published by ABC.

Whilst the disastrous history of what had been hoped would be Britain’s ‘national champion’ is hard to dispute, the question re. This meant that the last vestiges of British Leyland were banished forever.

Although it would literally take decades to wipe British Leyland and everything it stood for from the British consciousness.
